ROLE: Lead Quality Engineer
LOCATION: Cheltenham
SALARY: £50,000 - £60,000 per annum
I’m currently working with a growing Aerospace & Space engineering business who are looking to appoint a Lead Quality Engineer to support and develop the Quality function at their Cheltenham site.
This is a key hire for the business and an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining hands-on Quality Engineering with leadership responsibilities within a highly technical manufacturing environment.
The site supports complex engineering and operational activities across the aerospace and space sector, and the business is looking for someone capable of bringing structure, accountability, and continuous improvement into the Quality department.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading and developing the onsite Quality function
- Providing technical leadership and mentorship to the existing Quality team member
- Driving audits, process improvements, and implementation of new quality procedures
- Managing documentation control and Preventive Action (PA) activities
- Supporting both operational and inbound quality activities across the site
- Working closely with Programmes, Operations, Stores, and technical teams
- Setting standards, pace, and accountability within the department
- Supporting supplier quality activities and conducting occasional supplier visits across the UK
- Reporting directly into the Site Manager and supporting wider business improvement initiatives
The ideal candidate will have:
- 5+ years’ experience within Quality Engineering / Quality Assurance
- Strong audit, compliance, and process implementation experience
- Experience working within engineering or manufacturing environments
- A proactive and hands-on approach with the ability to operate autonomously
- Strong communication skills and confidence managing challenging situations professionally
- Experience supporting or mentoring junior team members
- Aerospace industry experience highly desirable
