Job Description

Our Client, a specialist global banking group, is looking for an experienced Employment Lawyer to take on the role of Lead Employment Counsel.


Based in London, reporting direct to the General Counsel, the mandate is UK only at this time.


Role:

  • Advising on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters across a regulated financial services business.
  • Provide strategic legal advice on all employee relations issues.
  • Manage employment disputes and litigation, partnering with external counsel where required, and support internal investigations and governance initiatives.
  • Partner closely with HR and senior stakeholders to draft and review employment documentation, deliver training, and ensure compliance with employment and regulatory obligations.


Requirements:


  • Qualified employment lawyer c. 4–10 years’ PQE gained in a ranked private practice Employment Team.
  • Exposure to Tier 1 Banking and broader FS Groups is required - Secondments or Permanent roles will be given equal weighting.
  • Strong employment law expertise covering both advisory and contentious matters, ideally within a regulated or listed corporate environment.
  • Knowledge of financial services regulation, including SMCR and broader FCA/PRA frameworks, is advantageous.
