About the Role 

As a People Assistant (Recruitment & Administration Focus), you will play a key role in supporting end-to-end recruitment and essential People team administration across the business. You will ensure a smooth and positive experience for candidates and employees, while maintaining accurate records and supporting compliance processes. 


This is a busy, hands-on role ideal for someone looking to build strong People and recruitment experience in a fast-paced retail environment. 


Key Responsibilities 


Recruitment Coordination 

  • Manage end-to-end retail recruitment including job postings, CV screening, interviews, and offer coordination 
  • Ensure a positive and professional candidate experience throughout the process 


Onboarding & Team Member Administration 

  • Manage full onboarding process for all business roles including contracts, references, and new starter documentation 
  • Coordinate right to work checks, DBS checks, and other compliance requirements 
  • Arrange uniforms, ID badges, system access, and new starter setup 
  • Maintain accurate employee records and People systems 

 

Compliance & Documentation 

  • Monitor expiring employee documents and ensure compliance tracking is up to date 
  • Support audit readiness by maintaining accurate and well-organised People records 
  • Assist in ensuring People processes align with employment legislation and internal policies 

 

Training & Coordination 

  • Coordinate retail training bookings  
  • Support scheduling and logistics for employee learning and development activities 


People Team Support 

  • Manage the People inbox, triaging queries and escalating where appropriate 
  • Provide administrative support to the wider People team as required 
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of People and recruitment processes 

 

About You 

  • Previous experience in HR or recruitment role 
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail 
  • Confident communicator, able to work with managers and employees at all levels 
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment 
  • CIPD Level 3 (or working towards) is an advantage 
  • Discreet and professional when handling sensitive information
