About the Company
A Boston-based financial intelligence platform redefining how profit is modelled and understood. Rather than adding another layer of reporting, they've built an ontology-driven intelligence layer that unifies fragmented ERP, CRM, and HR data into a single, coherent picture of financial performance. The Role
This is a senior engineering role with genuine influence over architecture and product direction. You'll be working on a Go/Python/GCP stack, designing and building the backend infrastructure that turns complex financial models into scalable, production-grade services. You'll work closely with data scientists, collaborate directly with the Director of Platform Engineering, and help set the engineering standard for a growing team.
Frontend experience is a nice-to-have, not a requirement.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and build scalable backend services in Go and Python
- Design and deploy cloud-native services on GCP - Cloud Run, BigQuery, Pub/Sub
- Productionise financial intelligence models into robust, API-driven agentic services
- Lead on system design decisions, setting patterns for scalability and maintainability
- Implement security, authorisation, and digital signing workflows for enterprise-grade financial data
- Collaborate with data scientists to translate complex financial ontologies into performant platform features
- Contribute to batch/streaming data pipeline design and DAG-based orchestration
- Help establish engineering best practice across the team
What You'll Need
Essential
- Strong, production-proven experience in Go and/or Python
- Deep hands-on experience with GCP - Cloud Run, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, and related services
- Demonstrable ability to own system design end-to-end - from data model through to production
- Comfortable working without perfect specs in an evolving, fast-moving product environment
- Strong understanding of data architectures, APIs, and distributed systems
Desirable
- Experience in FinOps, SaaS lifecycle management, or financial data platforms
- Exposure to ontology-driven systems or complex data normalisation
- Experience applying AI or LLMs to data modelling or schema inference
- React / TypeScript experience (useful but not the focus of this role)
